The present invention provides an apparatus for producing patterns on a surface (18) of a substrate (12) The apparatus includes a rigid support member (14) such as a rigid tubular structure having first and second opposed ends and a fluid flow passageway extending therethrough. A printing stamp (16) is attached at one of the opposed ends of the rigid support member (14) The printing stamp (16) has a flexible diaphragm portion (20) which has an outer surface which is coated with one or more materials in a pre-selected pattern A pneumatic pressurizing mechanism communicating with an inner surface of the flexible diaphragm portion (20) through the fluid flow passageway is used to bias the flexible diaphragm portion outwardly into intimate and substantially uniform contact with the surface (18) of the substrate (12) for transferring the pre- selected pattern onto said surface. The rigid tubular supports (14) are attached to a robotic positioning mechanism for providing control of positioning of the stamp (16) relative to the substrate surface (18).
L'invention concerne un appreil permettant de produire des motifs sur la surface d'un substrat. Ledit appareil comprend un élément de support rigide, tel qu'une structure tubulaire rigide dotée d'une première et d'une seconde extrémité opposées, et un passage fluidique s'étendant entre celles-ci. Un timbre d'impression est fixé au niveau de l'une des extrémités opposées de l'élément de support rigide. Ledit timbre d'impression comprend une partie membrane souple dotée d'une surface extérieure revêtue d'au moins un matériau selon un motif sélectionné. On utilise un mécanisme de pression pneumatique communiquant avec la surface intérieure de la partie membrane souple via le passage fluidique pour solliciter ladite partie membrane vers l'extérieur en contact serré et sensiblement uniforme avec la surface du substrat afin de transférer le motif présélectionné sur ladite surface. Les supports tubulaires rigides sont fixés à un mécanisme de positionnement robotique afin de commander le positionnement du timbre par rapport à la surface du substrat.
