Abstract of Invention An apparatus and method for extrusion of a molten thermoplastic including the continuous screen filtration of the molten material prior to its extrusion and means, such as a hydraulic ram, for positive displacement of used portions of filter screen and immediate replacement thereof with an unused portion of screen. The filter screen is encased between a plurality of interlocking, displaceable screen support members to insure proper screen support and ease of screen displacement.
