A method, and apparatus for predicting the outcome of head injury trauma by monitoring the pH of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The apparatus includes a pH probe (3) for reception in a patient's brain ventricle, and capable of monitoring the pH of CSF; calculator for calculating the pH at the probe at sequential times; a comparator for comparing the calculated pH values with stored values, a device for displaying and/or recording the resulting values.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour la prévision des conséquences traumatiques de blessures à la tête. Le principe consiste à contrôler le pH du liquide céphalorachidien (LCR). Le dispositif comprend une sonde pH (3) destinée à être introduite dans un ventricule cérébral du patient, de manière à contrôler le pH du LCR. Le dispositif comprend en outre un calculateur qui permet de calculer le pH au niveau de la sonde en des instants séquentiels, un comparateur qui permet de comparer les valeurs de pH déterminées et les valeurs mémorisées, ainsi qu'un visuel pour l'affichage et/ou l'enregistrement des valeurs résultantes.
