A system for identifying forest stands within an area of interest that are exhibiting abnormal growth determines a relationship between vegetation index (VI) values determined from a first and a second image of the area of interest. From the relationship, an expected or predicted VI value for each forest stand is determined and compared with the actual VI value computed for the forest stand from the first image. Those forest stands with a difference between the actual and predicted VI values that exceed a threshold are identified as exhibiting abnormal growth.
Un système permettant d'identifier des parcelles de forêt dans une zone d'intérêt qui présentent une croissance anormale détermine une relation entre les valeurs de l'indice de végétation (VI) déterminées à partir des première et seconde images de la zone d'intérêt. A partir de la relation, une valeur VI attendue ou prévue pour chaque parcelle de forêt est déterminée et comparée à la valeur VI réelle calculée pour la parcelle de forêt à partir de la première image. Ces parcelles de forêt avec une différence entre les valeurs VI réelle et prévue qui dépassent un seuil sont identifiées comme présentant une croissance anormale.
