METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MOUNTING A LID ON A CONTAINER Abstract of the Disclosure A machine for and method of mounting a lid on a filled container wherein the lid includes at least a pair of end flaps and a pair of side flaps. The machine includes a vertically reciprocal mandrel having a pair of squeezer plates mounted on the mandrel and means mounted on the mandrel for actuating the squeezer plates. When the mandrel moves downwardly, it positions the lid against the filled container positioned thereunder and, while the mandrel holds the lid in place, the squeezer plates are actuated whereby the end flaps are positioned and squeezed against the end panels of the container. Adhesive provided between the end flaps and the container maintain the end flaps in position. Subsequently, the side flaps are positioned against the side walls of the container, preferably while the container is moving.
