Several models that represent one class of objects are used to determine whetheran object under examination belongs to the class. The data describing the object under examination is compared with reference information in each of the models to produce an error value or signal at the output of each model. The inverses of the errors are summed to form an inverse of a combined error. The combined error is compared to a threshold to determine if the object under examination belongs to the class represented by the models.
