A dual component molding assembly for packaging hot melt adhesives wherein a mold (3), preferably in the form of an open top pan, includes a cavity which is lined with a thin film (8) of plastic material. The mold (3) has openings (7) formed therein which communicate with the cavity to facilitate vacuum forming of the film (8) to the cavity's interior surface. The second component is a carrier for the mold (3) and is also preferably in the form of an open top pan (10). The carrier also includes a cavity for receiving the mold (3), and functions not only to support the mold (3) when nested therein, but also to act as a heat sink to effectively and rapidly remove, dissipate or absorb the heat from molten adhesive dispensed into the mold (3). After filling the mold (3) with a mass of adhesive, the exposed open top surface of the adhesive is covered with a second layer (18) of thin film of plastic material which is then sealed to the first film (8) lining the interior of the mold (3). After cooling, the packaged adhesive is cut adjacent the seal to form individual adhesive blocks for further processing.
La présente invention a trait à un ensemble de moulage à deux éléments constitutifs pour l'emballage d'adhésifs thermofusibles dans lequel un moule, de préférence sous la forme d'une cuve ouverte vers le haut, comporte une cavité doublé d'un film mince en matière plastique. Le moule présente des couvertures qui y sont formées communiquant avec la cavité en vue de faciliter la formation sous vide du film à la face interne de la cavité. Le deuxième élément constitutif est un support pour le moule et est également réalisé de préférence sous la forme d'une cuve ouverte vers le haut. Le support comporte également une cavité pour la réception du moule, et sert non seulement de support au moule lorsque celui-ci y est emboîté, mais également de dissipateur pour l'élimination, la dispersion ou l'absorption efficace et rapide de la chaleur en provenance de l'adhésif fondu alimenté dans le moule. Après le remplissage du moule avec une masse d'adhésif, la face ouverte vers le haut exposée de l'adhésif est recouverte d'une deuxième couche de film mince en matière plastique qui est ensuite scellé au premier film garnissant l'intérieur du moule. Après refroidissement, l'adhésif emballé est découpé adjacent au joint pour former des blocs d'adhésif unitaires en vue d'un traitement supplémentaire.
