A method and apparatus are disclosed for estimating a position of a target of interest using a plurality of position detection sensors wherein for at least one of the sensors, a corresponding time-variant detection probability profile is combined with the detection status received from the sensor and further wherein each of the corresponding detection probability profiles is combined to generate a global detection probability profile, wherein the combining comprises probabilistically adding a first given probability profile in the case where a first given corresponding indication comprises a target detection and probabilistically subtracting a second given probability profile in the case where a corresponding second given indication comprises a target non- detection and wherein the position of the target is estimated using the highest probability region(s) of the generated global detection probability profile.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant d'estimer une position d'une cible d'intérêt au moyen d'une pluralité de capteurs de détection de position. Selon le procédé de l'invention, pour au moins un des capteurs, un profil de probabilité de détection en fonction du temps correspondant est combiné à l'état de détection reçu à partir du capteur, et chaque profil de probabilité de détection correspondant est combiné afin que soit généré un profil de probabilité de détection global. L'étape de combinaison consiste à ajouter de manière probabiliste un premier profil de probabilité donné si une première indication correspondante donnée comprend un signal de détection de cible, et à soustraire de manière probabiliste un deuxième profil de probabilité donné si une deuxième indication donnée correspondante comprend un signal de non-détection de cible. La position de la cible est estimée au moyen de la ou des régions de probabilité la plus élevée du profil de probabilité de détection global généré.
