ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Reactions are carried out in a substantially horizontal elongated tubular reactor so that as nearly as possible ideal "plug flow" is maintained, a first fluid medium being continuously introduced exclusively through one end of the reactor, a second fluid medium being introduced into the first medium through orifices disposed within and along the length of the reactor directly below the central longitud- inal axis of the reactor adjacent the inner surface thereof, thereby providing an additional motion in the form of a rotary pattern of flow about axes extending in the direction of flow of the first medium.
