According to the present invention, a method and apparatus for generating power aboard a marine vessel is provided. The method comprises the steps of: (a) providing a Rankine Cycle device that includes at least one of each of an evaporator, a turbo-generator that includes a turbine coupled with an electrical generator, a condenser, and a refrigerant feed pump; (b) disposing the one or more evaporators within an exhaust duct of a power plant of the marine vessel; (c) operating the power plant; and (d) selectively pumping refrigerant through the Rankine Cycle device, wherein refrigerant exiting the evaporator powers the turbine, which in turn powers the generator to produce power.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de production d~énergie électrique à bord d~un navire. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à : (a) fournir un dispositif à cycle de Rankine comprenant au moins l~un parmi un évaporateur et un turbogénérateur qui possède une turbine couplée à un générateur électrique, un condensateur et une pompe d~alimentation en fluide frigorigène ; (b) positionner le ou les évaporateurs dans le conduit de sortie d~une centrale électrique de navire ; (c) faire marcher la centrale électrique et (d) pomper de façon sélective le fluide frigorigène par l'intermédiaire du dispositif à cycle de Rankine, le fluide frigorigène sortant de l~évaporateur faisant fonctionner la turbine qui à son tour fait fonctionner le générateur pour produire de l~énergie électrique.
