A method is provided for carrying out a power saving procedure in a wireless subscriber terminal which is operative to receive at least two different services, each of which is characterized by one or more characteristics related to traffic demands associated with that service. The method comprises the following steps: classifying each of the at least two different services based on their traffic demand related characteristics into corresponding power saving classes, where there are at least two different power saving classes associated with the at least two different services; for each of the power saving classes, determining required listening windows and required sleep windows; exchanging messages between the base station and the subscriber's device for synchronizing parameters for carrying out the power saving procedure.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de réaliser une procédure d'économie d'énergie dans un terminal d'abonné sans fil qui est conçu pour recevoir au moins deux services différents, chacun étant caractérisé par une ou plusieurs caractéristiques se rapportant aux demandes de trafic associées à ce service. Ledit procédé consiste à classer chacun au moins des deux services différents sur la base des caractéristiques se rapportant à leur demande de trafic en classes d'économie d'énergie correspondantes, lorsqu'il existe au moins deux classes d'économie d'énergie différentes associées au moins aux deux différents services; à déterminer pour chaque classe d'économie d'énergie des fenêtres d'écoute requises et des fenêtres de sommeil requises; à échanger des messages entre la station de base et le dispositif d'abonné pour synchroniser des paramètres permettant de réaliser la procédure d'économie d'énergie.
