Apparatus and methods for deriving power from an active POTS twisted pair of lines for powering associated auxiliary electrical devices, such as signal processing electronics, includes a power supply for providing a regulated DC voltage and current, and a current regulator for limiting the current flowing in the twisted pair to a predetermined value that does not disrupt the normal signaling and operation of the telephone circuit. Another current regulator in the power supply limits the input current from the twisted pair during power surges to another predetermined value that prevents line latching in an off hook condition. A shared power arrangement derives power from a plurality of twisted pairs and powers another plurality of auxiliary electrical devices in parallel, thereby limiting the line current of any one twisted pair to a value that avoids disrupting the normal operation of the telephone circuit.
L'invention concerne un appareil et des procédés de dérivation d'énergie à partir d'une paire torsadée POTS active de lignes, en vue d'alimenter des dispositifs électriques auxiliaires associés, tels qu'une électronique de traitement de signaux, appareil comprenant une alimentation électrique fournissant une tension c.c. régulée et une intensité, et un régulateur de courant pour la limitation du courant circulant dans ladite paire torsadée à une valeur prédéterminée qui n'interrompt pas la signalisation normale et le fonctionnement du circuit téléphonique. Un autre régulateur de courant dans l'alimentation électrique limite le courant d'entrée de la paire torsadée durant une surtension à une autre valeur prédéterminée qui empêche la ligne de se bloquer dans un état de décrochage du téléphone. Un agencement d'alimentation partagée dérive l'énergie d'une pluralité de paires torsadées et alimente une autre pluralité de dispositifs électriques auxiliaires en parallèle, de manière à limiter le courant de ligne d'une paire torsadée quelconque à une valeur qui évite l'interruption du fonctionnement normal du circuit téléphonique.
