This invention relates to a method of using a suitably programmed computer to fit a circular arc to a plurality of points, which form map data representing a feature, comprising determining whether a region, in which a centre of a circle intersecting a first point and a region around at least one mid-point lies, intersects a perpendicular bisector of a line intersecting the first point and a second point. The method is suitable for preparing navigation maps and is applicable to any processing device configured to execute navigation software.

Linvention concerne un procédé permettant dutiliser un ordinateur programmé de façon appropriée pour ajuster un arc circulaire à une pluralité de points formant des données cartographiques représentant un élément. Ce procédé consiste à déterminer si une zone, dans laquelle se trouve le centre dun cercle croisant un premier point et une zone autour dau moins un point médian, croise une bissectrice perpendiculaire dune ligne croisant le premier point et un deuxième point. Le procédé selon linvention permet de préparer des cartes de navigation et il peut être appliqué à nimporte quel dispositif de traitement configuré pour exécuter un logiciel de navigation.
