ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Audio and video portions of a television signal which have become out of synchronization because of delays resulting from video processing equipment are synchronized by measuring the video delay and delaying the associated audio signal by a corresponding amount. The delay detector and a contin- uously variable audio delay circuit function as a closed loop system to insert the correct amount of continuously variable audio delay time, so that the audio portion of the program may be synchronized to video signals having arbitrary and random processing delay times.
