A method and apparatus for preserving urine specimens at room temperature by preventing bacterial and fungal growth in the specimen is presented. The invention prevents the bacterial and fungal growth in urine specimens thereby enabling the urine specimens to be stored at room temperature and later tested or examined for diagnostic/therapeutic purposes. The invention includes a container which is made of plastic and an antimicrobial where the plastic and antimicrobial form a uniform composition throughout the entire mass of the container by simultaneously injection molding the plastic and antimicrobial to form the container. The container preferably has a test tube shape with triclosan as the preferred antimicrobial.
On présente une méthode et un dispositif pour conserver des échantillons d'urine à température de la pièce en empêchant la croissance bactérienne et fongique dans les échantillons. L'invention empêche la croissance bactérienne et fongique dans des échantillons d'urine, permettant ainsi de conserver des échantillons d'urine à température de la pièce et ultérieurement de les tester ou examiner pour des fins diagnostiques/thérapeutiques. L'invention comprend un contenant antimicrobien en matière plastique, dans lequel le plastique et l'agent antimicrobien forment une composition uniforme sur la masse entière du récipient par moulage par injection simultanée la matière plastique et l'agent antimicrobien afin de former le contenant. Le contenant présente de préférence une forme de tube de test composé de triclosan comme agent antimicrobien préféré.
