ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for producing a cellular metal. A molten metal is introduced into a channel enclosed by axial walls and is permeated with a gas in said channel. The cellular metal formed in the channel is removed through the channel discharge opening for further processing. The invention makes it possible to produce cellular metal bodies with clearly defined dimensions and predetermined profiles, while minimizing the size of the apparatus.
