Method and apparatus for producing fibre pulp and fuel out of municipal waste or for producing fibre pulp out of waste paper. To control the microbe content the retention time of the process is kept shorter than 12 hours, advantageously shorter than 6 hours. This is achieved by minimizing the total liquid volume of the process and by increasing the amount of water being passed to water treatment from the process, which water, having been purified, is possibly returned to the process. The method may also include a phase in which the pulp is treated thermally in order to destroy the microbes present in it.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de produire de la pulpe de fibres et du combustible à partir des déchets municipaux, ou de produire de la pulpe de fibres à partir de déchets de papier. Selon l'invention, pour réguler la concentration de microbes, le temps de rétention du traitement est maintenu en dessous de 12 heures, avantageusement en dessous de 6 heures. On obtient cela par la réduction au minimum du volume liquide total du traitement et par l'augmentation de la quantité d'eau passant du traitement à l'épuration, cette eau pouvant être renvoyée vers le traitement une fois purifiée. Le procédé selon l'invention peut également comprendre une phase au cours de laquelle la pulpe est traitée thermiquement, de sorte à détruire les microbes présents dans cette pulpe.
