ABSTRACT Disclosed is a method of producing a nonwoven fibrous web, such as paper, from a dispersion, preferably aqueous, of fibers, wherein the fiber consistency is greater than 6% of the dispersion weight and/or the dispersion is permanently stable until subjected to a destabilizing step, such as application of vacuum. The dispersion is deposited against a foraminous support and the fibers are separated from the dispersing medium to form a web on the support. The dispersing medium is preferably foam formed by intermixing air in water and surfactant. Also disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out the above method and the products made thereby .
