ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a method for producing spherical granular material, more particularly metallic material, in which the initial material is first melted down in an electric furnace. The material is atomized as it emerges from a tapping vessel and, after solidi- fication, is hardened, tempered and graded. In accord- ance with the invention, solidification takes place in a free-movement phase after atomization. The invention also relates to an apparatus for the implementation of the method which apparatus comprises a water-spray or mist chamber for controlled solidification of the spray material.
