ABSTRACT A method for protecting the extracts obtained by tapping trees from rainwater is disclosed, wherein a strip of aluminum foil is attached to the trunk of a tree above a tapping slip so as to form a gutter which diverts the rainwater flowing down the trunk from the tapping slip; the aluminum foil has folds, wrinkles or pleats laterally formed therein and has on at least the lower edge of one surface a pressure sensitive adhe- sive.
