A method, and associated apparatus, of providing a communication station (12) with anonymous access to a communication network (14) to communicate data therein. Access is provided to the communication station (12) only after authenticating that the communication station is authorized to communicate in the network (14), but access is provided without individually identifying the communication station (12) to the network (14) with a permanent identifier unique to the communication station.
