In a network-based system, status information relating to facsimile transmissions is provided to a facsimile user. A network-based platform accesses a transaction database which stores facsimile transmission status parameters. Based on the unique identity of the facsimile user, a customer needs database which contains user-related format information is accessed to provide the status information to the facsimile user at selected time intervals and through user- selected media such as electronic mail, voice mail and/or in printed form.
