ABSTRACT Rubber or like materials such as used vehicle tyres are pulverised in a fluidised bed which is made of a material having a particle size below one millimetre and into which fluidising gas is blown so as to pass into the fluidised bed material in a downward direction. A fluidised bed reactor for carrying out the process is described.
