The teachings presented herein enable a user terminal to perform a fast recovery from a radio link failure. In one aspect, the improvement in recovery time is achieved by commanding or otherwise causing the user terminal to perform radio link failure (RLF) recovery at a cell that is known to possess the user context, while considering that this cell should yield good radio conditions (if not the best) to the user terminal. A cell may be predefined for use by the user terminal in recovering its radio con-nection. Based on providing signal strength thresholds to the user terminal, for use in determining whether to use a predefined cell for reconnecting to the network, the user terminal attempts RLF recovery first in the predefined cell. By providing user context to the predefined cell in advance of a recovery attempt by the user terminal, the time for recovery is lessened. Note that the user ter-minal also may infer which cells are preferred.
L'invention permet à un terminal utilisateur de réaliser une reprise rapide après la défaillance d'une liaison radio. Dans un aspect, l'amélioration du temps de reprise est obtenue, entre autres, par commande du terminal, lequel est amené à réaliser une reprise après défaillance de liaison radio (RLF) au niveau d'une cellule identifiée comme possédant le contexte utilisateur, cette cellule étant censée procurer de bonnes conditions radio (voire les meilleures) au terminal utilisateur. Une cellule peut être prédéfinie en vue d'une utilisation par le terminal utilisateur pour la reprise de sa connexion radio. Sur la base de la fourniture de seuils de puissance de signal au terminal utilisateur, en vue de leur utilisation pour déterminer s'il convient d'utiliser une cellule prédéfinie pour la reconnexion au réseau, le terminal utilisateur fait sa première tentative de reprise de RLF dans la cellule prédéfinie. La fourniture du contexte utilisateur à la cellule prédéfinie avant une tentative de reprise par le terminal utilisateur permet de réduire le temps nécessaire à la reprise. Il est à noter que le terminal utilisateur peut également déterminer, par inférence, quelles sont les cellules préférées.
