A method and apparatus is disclosed for tracking and reporting electronic commerce activity over a web site that is stored on a first server coupled to a wide area network (12). The web page is programmed to include data fields reflecting commerce transaction activity and data mining code. The web page is uploaded to a visitor computer responsive to a request over the wide area network from the visitor computer. Commerce information is accepted within the data fiels of the web page at the visitor computer to form a completed web page. The data mining code is operated on the visitor computer to obtain technical and commercial data and sent to a second server on the wide area network for logging and analysis.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de suivre une activité commerciale électronique sur un site web et d'établir un rapport sur cette activité stockée sur un premier serveur qui est relié à un réseau (12) de zone étendue. La page web est programmée de manière à contenir des champs de données qui reflètent l'activité des opérations commerciales et le code d'exploration de données. La page web est téléchargée vers un ordinateur visiteur en réponse à une demande de l'ordinateur visiteur sur le réseau de zone étendue. Les informations commerciales sont acceptées à l'intérieur des champs de données de la page web se trouvant sur l'ordinateur visiteur de manière à former une page web complète. Le code d'exploration de données est activé sur l'ordinateur visiteur afin d'obtenir des données commerciales et techniques, puis envoyé vers un second serveur sur le réseau de zone étendue pour l'enregistrement chronologique des données et l'analyse.
