A method for reconditioning and recycling frac fluids. A first step involves providing a vessel having an inlet and an outlet. A second step involves positioning a suitable particulate solid scrubbing agent in the vessel between the inlet and the outlet, such that frac fluids entering the inlet must pass through the scrubbing agent in order to reach the outlet. A third step involves pumping frac fluids through the vessel from the inlet to the outlet, whereby hydrogen sulphide and light mercaptans in the frac fluids are removed by the scrubbing agent.
