Abstract of the Disclosure Transient events, such as high frequency sound emissions generally known as acoustic emissions generally occur too rapidly to be recorded directly without expensive video equipment. In the present invention acoustic emission output signal are amplified and then stored, at frequencies up to the megaherts range, in a solid state memory device. The signals are then retrieved, at frequencies in the kilohertz range, and recorded on any suitable audio-recorder such as a tape cassette.
