A method and apparatus for continuously removing oil from oil-bearing solids such as tar sands, vegetables or other solid materials utilizing solvent extraction. As shown in the figure, a pressure differential is generated between the exterior and interior of the oil extraction chamber (10), wherein substantially oil free solids are removed from the oil extraction chamber (10) through a solids extraction channel (24) without removing any substantial volume of solvent through the solids extraction channel (24).

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil servant à extraire en continu, à l'aide d'un solvant, l'huile de matières solides telles que le sable bitumineux, des légumes ou autres matières solides. Selon la figure, on exerce un différentiel de pression entre l'extérieur et l'intérieur d'une chambre (10) d'extraction d'huile, ce qui permet d'éliminer sensiblement toutes les matières solides exemptes d'huile de la chambre (10) d'extraction par un canal (24) d'extraction de matières solides sans retirer un important volume de solvant par ledit canal (24).
