Apparatus for reducing fatigue and/or strain in the eyes of a person viewing an object at relatively close range. The apparatus includes means (10) for automatically repositioning the object relative to the eyes at least periodically whereby causing a shift in the focus of the eyes and a corresponding shift in tension of muscles associated with the eyes. In a preferred embodiment the object is repositioned such that the shift in tension of the eye muscles is substantially constant.
