ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus of regulating the electrical power delivered to a consumer from an alternating current network by adjusting the current flow angle by means of a power switching device connected in the current path to the consumer, which is switched on at the beginning of a half-wave of the network alternating voltage at a phase angle of approximately zero degrees and is switched off at a phase angle corresponding to the desired current flow angle.
