An apparatus and method for automatically tracking each individual vehicle, of a plurality of vehicles, in a race around a track. The device employs RFID tags on each of the vehicles being tracked and at gates adapted to cause the RFID to energize and broadcast the vehicle's identity when a pass through the gate is determined. Collisions of data transmission and resulting loss of identification data are reduced through commands to RFIDs responding and remedied with an inventory command based on most likely respondents. The device can be employed to both track the individual vehicle participants in a race and also to register the participants in the race. Races can be tracked on different courses in different geographic locations by placing the RFID tags on all participants and tracking their progress on the individual remote tracks from a central location.
L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé pour la localisation automatique de véhicules individuels, dans une pluralité de véhicules, participant à une course sur un circuit. Le dispositif fait appel à des étiquettes RFID apposées sur les véhicules à localiser et sur des portes induisant l'activation RFID et la transmission de l'identité des véhicules lorsque ceux-ci franchissent les portes. On réduit les risques de collision de transmission de données et de perte correspondante de données d'identification, par le biais de commandes aux RFID qui répondent, et on pallie les pertes de données qui surviennent, par le biais d'une commande d'inventaire qui repose sur les répondants les plus probables. Le dispositif permet de localiser à la fois les participants individuels et d'enregistrer l'ensemble des participants. On peut donc suivre les courses sur différents circuits en différents endroits, sachant que tous les participants comportent des étiquettes RFID et que l'on peut alors suivre leur parcours sur les circuits considérés à partir d'un point de contrôle central.
