A method and apparatus (10) is provided which employs phase or amplitude modulated electromagnetic probing waves (20) (in optical or microwave frequency ranges or both) emitted toward a vibrating object (8). The optical and/or microwave probing signals (20) remotely irradiate an object (8) of interest. The object (8) reflects and/or scatters the probing wave (20) toward a receiver (22). The reflected/scattered modulated signal (24) is received with a remote sensor (receiver) (22). Vibration causes additional phase modulation to the probing wave (20). At the receiving end, the signal is demodulated to extract and analyze the vibration waveform (26, 28). The present invention can be utilized for nondestructive testing, monitoring of technological processes, structural integrity, noise and vibration control, mine detection, etc.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil (10) utilisant des ondes de sondage électromagnétiques (20) en modulation de phase ou d'amplitude dans les plages de fréquences optiques ou hyperfréquence ou les deux, en émission en direction d'un objet vibrant (8). Ces signaux de sondage optique et/ou hyperfréquence (20) viennent irradier à distance un objet d'étude (8). Cet objet (8) renvoie et/ou disperse l'onde de sondage (20) en direction d'un récepteur (22). Le signal modulé (24) de réflexion ou de dispersion est reçu au moyen d'une sonde de télémesure ou récepteur (22). La vibration provoque un supplément de modulation de phase à l'onde de sondage (20). A l'extrémité réceptrice, le signal est démodulé de façon à extraire et analyser la forme d'onde de la vibration (26, 28). Cette invention convient tout particulièrement notamment pour les mesures non destructives, la surveillance des processus technologiques, la mesure de l'intégrité des structures, la lutte contre le bruit et les vibrations, et la détection des mines.
