The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for downloading software into a remotely located cellular telephone (110) via wireless communication. The cellular telephone (110) includes two memories (130, 150) for storing software with one memory (130) storing the current software and the second memory (150) available for downloading new software. The present invention further includes a processor (100) in communication with the cellular telephone (110) via cellular telephone network (120). The processor (100) contains the new software and controls the downloading of the software from the processor (100) into the cellular telephone memory (150). The cellular telephone (110) includes a controller (140) for loading the received software into the cellular telephone memory and for performing a checksum on the new software.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de télécharger un logiciel dans un poste téléphonique cellulaire (110) situé à distance par l'intermédiaire d'une communication sans fil. Le poste téléphonique cellulaire (110) comprend deux mémoires (130, 150) destinées à l'enregistrement du logiciel, une mémoire (130) étant réservée à l'enregistrement du logiciel en place et une seconde mémoire (150) étant disponible pour le téléchargement du nouveau logiciel. L'invention comprend également un processeur (100) en communication avec le poste téléphonique cellulaire (110) par un réseau téléphonique cellulaire (120). Le processeur (100) contient le nouveau logiciel et commande le téléchargement du logiciel du processeur (100) dans la mémoire (150) du poste téléphonique cellulaire. Le poste téléphonique cellulaire (110) comprend un régisseur (140) permettant de charger le logiciel reçu dans la mémoire du poste téléphonique cellulaire et de réaliser un total de contrôle sur le nouveau logiciel.
