A method of removing mercury from flue gas containing mercury and particulate solids emanating from a fossil-fuel energy conversion plant and passing through a flue gas duct. The method includes (a) contacting the mercury in the flue gas with a solution containing at least one chloride-containing salt dissolved in a solvent by injecting the solution into the flue gas duct at an injection location, in order to oxidize mercury into HgCl2, (b) heating the solution prior to or after step (a) to at least about 300 ~C, and (c) removing oxidized mercury from the flue gas with a device for removing particulate solids from the flue gas.
Procédé servant à extraire du mercure de gaz de combustion contenant du mercure et des particules solides provenant d'une installation de conversion d'énergie de combustibles fossiles et traversant un conduit de gaz de combustion. Ce procédé consiste (a) à mettre en contact le mercure contenu par le gaz de combustion avec une solution contenant au moins un sel contenant chlorure dissous dans un solvant par injection de cette solution dans le conduit de gaz de combustion au niveau d'un emplacement d'injection, de manière à oxyder le mercure HgCl¿2?, (b) à réchauffer la solution préalablement à l'étape (a) ou après cette étape, à au moins 300 ·C et (c) extraire le mercure oxydé du gaz de combustion au moyen d'un dispositif servant à retirer les particules solides de ce gaz de combustion.
