A process for separating a solute from a solute-bearing solid product includes providing an extraction chamber and feeding the solute-bearing solid product in the extraction chamber. The process further includes injecting a solvent in the extraction chamber for leaching the solute from the solid product with the solvent and controlling extraction pressure in the extraction chamber to maintain it above an ambient pressure value. Controlling the extraction pressure to maintain it above an ambient pressure value is accomplished by means of a gas injector injecting in the extraction chamber, separately from the product, one of a vapor of the solvent and a gas which is unreactive with the solvent, oil and solid product. The process further includes separating the solvent from the solute in a separation unit.
