A method for removing water from ponds to facilitate drying of the land thereunder comprises dragging water from the pond and spreading same onto surrounding land. An apparatus for practicing the method comprises a water drag body having substantially vertical walls on a back side, left side, and right side thereof, and a front side adapted to allow water to enter therethrough into an enclosure formed by the substantially vertical walls. A tow hitch allows a towing vehicle to tow the water drag body in a front-ward direction along the ground. The water drag body rests on a skid member. Transport wheels, and a baffle to restrict water from escaping are also provided.
