A method and apparatus for repairing optical discs (30), wherein the apparatus includes an improved buffing wheel (10) capable of applying a uniform buffing action across the readable surface (38) of an optical disc (30), and wherein the method includes the step of mechanically buffing the damaged area (40) of a disc (30) with an abrasive means (22) and thereafter buffing the buffed area (50) with a non-abrasive means (52) to remove fine scratches (50) caused by the abrasive means (22).

Cette invention a trait à une technique de réparation de disques optiques (30) et à l'appareil correspondant, lequel appareil est pourvu d'un disque de polissage (10) amélioré capable de polir uniformément toute la surface de lecture (38) d'un disque optique (30). Cette technique comporte une opération de polissage mécanique de la région endommagée (40) du disque optique (30) au moyen d'un dispositif abrasif (22) suivie d'une opération de polissage au moyen d'un dispositif non abrasif (52) et ce, afin d'éliminer les éraflures (50) dues à l'action du dispositif abrasif (22).
