An impactor for use a directional boring machine for replacement of underground pipes includes a bursting head having a rearwardly opening recess and a front end opening that communicates with the recess. An inlet is connected at its front end to a distal end of the drill string and extends into the recess of the bursting head through the front end opening. A striker is mounted for sliding movement along the inlet pipe, and a distributing mechanism responsive to pressure fluid supplied through the drill string and inlet pipe causes the striker to reciprocate in the rearwardly opening recess of the head to deliver forward impacts against the bursting head. The striker and distributing mechanism are mounted in a tubular housing, and a pulling connection is provided by which the impactor can be pulled by the drill string while the striker is delivering impacts against the head in the same direction as a pulling force exerted by the drill string. The bursting head is preferably slidably mounted on the inlet pipe and moves forward relative to the inlet pipe and drill string in response to an impact of the striker against the bursting head. The impactor can be readily used with existing directional boring machines.
L'invention concerne un concasseur à percussion destiné à être utilisé avec une machine de forage dirigé, pour le remplacement de tuyauterie souterraine, qui comprend une tête d'éclatement, laquelle présente une cavité s'ouvrant vers l'arrière et une ouverture d'extrémité frontale communiquant avec cette cavité. Une conduite d'admission est reliée en son extrémité avant à une extrémité distale du train de tiges, et s'étend à travers la cavité de la tête susmentionnée, par l'ouverture d'extrémité frontale de cette tête. Un percuteur est monté coulissant le long de la conduite d'admission, et un mécanisme de distribution réagissant à un fluide sous pression, fourni via le train de tiges et la conduite d'admission, transmet au percuteur un mouvement de va et vient dans la cavité, qui se traduit par des percussions vers l'avant, contre la tête. Le percuteur et le mécanisme de distribution sont montés dans une enceinte tubulaire, et une liaison de traction permet de tirer le concasseur par le biais du train de tiges, tandis que le percuteur fournit les percussions contre la tête dans la même direction qu'une force de traction exercée par le train de tiges. De préférence, la tête est montée coulissante sur la conduite d'admission et se déplace par rapport à cette conduite et au train de tiges en réaction à une percussion du percuteur contre la tête. Le concasseur peut être utilisé facilement avec les machines existantes de forage dirigé.
