- 1 - Abstract: A video tape recorder uses pilot signals. Deviation between a video track on the magnetic tape and a rotating head during a tape stopped condition of an intermittent drive for a noiseless slow-still picture is corrected. A series of pulses from a frequency generator of a capstan is counted during the tape feeding condition of the intermittent drive, in order to detect the timing of stopping of the tape feeding. As this count number becomes a set value corresponding to a regular amount of feeding of the tape during the inter- mittent drive, the tape feeding is controlled to stop it. A tracking error signal is produced from the pilot signals reproduced from the tape by the rotating head during the tape stopped condition. The set value for the next feeding of the tape is corrected in response to this tracking error signal. The invention has the advantage of enabling ready synchroni- sation in a system using pilot signals on the video track.
