ABSTRACT There is disclosed a method for reproducing multi-color image by using a photoreceptor provided with a photoconductive layer on a conductive member and with an insulating layer containing a differently colored fine-filter distributed layer on the photo- conductive layer. The method involves the steps of making an imagewise exposure to the surface of the photoreceptor while a charge is being applied there- to, and making a flood-exposure of the surface of the photoreceptor to a specific light. Further, the method comprises repeating at least twice both the formation of a potential pattern in the portions of the photoreceptor corresponding to the portions of the specific filters out of the said filters and the developing of an electrostatic latent image formed by the potential pattern according to the kinds of filters. The method is characterized by the fact that the surface of the photoreceptor is charged before every flood-exposure that is made from the second flood-exposure so as to uniformize the potential on the photoreceptor surface. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
