Abstract A method and an apparatus for retreading vehicle tyres (10), at which a carcass (3) is provided with a prevulcan- ized tread (1) and an unvulcanized tiegum layer (2) between the carcass (3) and tread (1), and at which a microwave applicator is located above the tread (1) for emitting microwaves to the tyre (10) for creating heat energy in the tyre. According to the invention, a reflector for microwaves comprising an electrically conductive material (9) is attached in connection to or in the tiegum layer (2). Hereby a rapid vulcanization with high quality without heating the carcass (3) is achieved. Fig. 2 to be published.
