A metal section removing tool (10) separates a section of metal from a metal object (M) such as a turbine motor. The tool (10) separates an elongated section of metal from the object using a pivotally mounted cutting device (16) that cuts along a cutting arc ("B") with cutting arc axis ("A") aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the cutting device. Preferably, the tool (10) uses electric discharge machining to separate the metal section from the object (M). The tool (10) also includes channels (48, 50) formed in the cutting device (16) for directing the flow of a dielectric fluid to a cutting edge of the cutting device (16). The cutting method includes first securing a carriage at a fixed position with respect to the object and then pivoting the cutting device along the cutting arc ("B") to separate a section of metal from the object (M).
Un outil (10) de prélèvement de partie métallique (10) sépare une partie de métal d'un objet en métal (M), tel qu'un rotor de turbine. L'outil (10) sépare de l'objet une partie allongée de métal au moyen d'un dispositif coupant (16) monté pivotant, lequel effectue la coupe le long d'un arc de coupe ("B") présentant un axe ("A") d'arc de coupe aligné parallèlement à l'axe longitudinal dudit dispositif. De préférence, l'outil (10) procède à un usinage par décharge électrique afin de séparer la partie métallique de l'objet (M). L'outil (10) comprend également des canaux (48, 50) situés dans le dispositif coupant (16), de façon à diriger l'écoulement d'un fluide diélectrique vers un bord coupant dudit dispositif (16). Le procédé de coupe consiste d'abord à fixer un chariot au niveau d'une position fixe par rapport à l'objet, puis à faire pivoter le dispositif coupant le long de l'arc de coupe ("B"), afin de séparer une partie de métal de l'objet (M).
