An ultrahigh-pressure fluid system, such as an ultrahigh-pressure fluid pump, includes an improved dynamic seal assembly that can withstand pressures above 40,000 psi, and more preferably, pressures up to and beyond 87,000 psi. The dynamic sealing assembly (21) includes a plastic seal (22) having a bore (23) through which the plunger (12) reciprocates, and a bearing (24) positioned adjacent the seal, also having a bore through which the plunger reciprocates. A seal carrier (26) surrounds the circumference of the bearing and is subjected to a compressive force that is sufficiently high to circumferentially collapse the seal carrier in a radial direction against the bearing. This collapse of the seal carrier against the bearing causes an inner surface of the bore through the bearing to achieve substantially uniform contact with an outer surface of the plunger when the assembly is subjected to ultrahigh-pressure, thereby eliminating gaps that occur in prior art systems. By eliminating any gap between the seal carrier and the bearing, and between the bearing and the plunger, the present invention eliminates any pathway through which the seal might otherwise extrude, particularly when subjected to high pressures up to and beyond 40,000 psi, and more particularly, up to and beyond 87,000 psi.

L'invention porte sur un système pour fluide à ultrahaute pression tel qu'une pompe, ce système comprenant un ensemble amélioré de joint d'étanchéité dynamique qui peut supporter des pressions supérieures à 40.000 psi, et idéalement, des pressions atteignant et dépassant 87.000 psi. L'ensemble joint d'étanchéité dynamique (21) comprend un joint d'étanchéité en plastique (22) pourvu d'un alésage (23) dans lequel le plongeur (12) effectue un mouvement alternatif et un palier (24), positionné à côté du joint d'étanchéité, possédant également un logement dans lequel le plongeur effectue un mouvement alternatif. Cette compression du support du joint d'étanchéité contre le palier oblige une surface interne du logement par l'intermédiaire du palier à venir en contact de manière sensiblement uniforme avec une surface externe du plongeur lorsque l'ensemble est soumis à une pression ultrahaute, ce qui élimine les vides apparaissant dans les systèmes de la technique antérieure. En éliminant tout vide entre le support du joint d'étanchéité et le palier, et entre le palier et le plongeur, l'invention permet d'éliminer toutes voies par lesquelles le joint d'étanchéité pourrait sinon être extrudé, notamment lorsqu'il est soumis à des pressions élevées atteignant et dépassant 40.000 psi, et notamment 87,000 psi.
