Connectors and connections that enhance mechanical and sealing engagement between the ends of tubular bodies that are radially expanded by a forging tool. The connectors are designed to maintain or restore mechanical and sealing engagement following expansion. The connections are made by joining components that exhibit different spring back characteristics following mechanical deformation. Dissimilar material may be used for the connectors or the connected components can be made of the same materials but dimensioned and configured to exert an interfering force between engaged components following expansion. In operation, a material or component with a high spring back characteristic is positioned adjacent a material or component having a lower spring back characteristic. Following passage of a forging tool, the expanded components spring back differently toward their original unexpanded dimensions to produce the enhanced seal or mechanical engagement. The materials of the end connectors are selected and positioned such that a compressive or locking force is exerted between the different component of the connectors due to the difference in the spring back of the materials or components.
L'invention porte sur des connecteurs et sur des connexions qui renforcent le contact mécanique et d'étanchéité entre les extrémités des corps tubulaires qui sont dilatés radialement par un outil de forgeage. Les connecteurs sont conçus pour maintenir ou rétablir le contact mécanique et d'étanchéité après dilatation. Les connexions sont effectuées par des composants d'assemblage qui présentent différentes caractéristiques de retour élastique après déformation mécanique. Un matériau différent peut être utilisé pour les connecteurs ou bien les composants connectés peuvent être fabriqués dans des matériaux identiques et dont les dimensions et la configuration permettent qu'une force d'interférence s'exerce entre des composants en contact après dilatation. En fonctionnement, un matériau ou composant ayant une caractéristique importante de retour élastique est positionné à côté d'un matériau ou d'un composant ayant une caractéristique de retour élastique moins importante. Après le passage d'un outil de forgeage, les composants dilatés reprennent de manière différente leurs dimensions d'origine à l'état non dilaté de façon à former un meilleur contact d'étanchéité ou mécanique. Les matériaux des connecteurs d'extrémité sont sélectionnés et positionnés de sorte qu'une force de compression ou de blocage s'exerce entre le composant différent des connecteurs, du fait de la différence de retour élastique des matériaux ou des composants.
