The invention provides a cable-securing and grounding device that simplifies installation and grounding of shielded cable within an enclosure housing an optical networking unit. The device has two shells or housings that fit together to form a casing having openings through which a cable such as a combined optic-fiber and power cable run. Two sets of teeth within one housing engage the cable, one set made of a metal and touching the shield and the other set touching the outer jacket of the cable. A pressing surface within the other housing presses the cable at approximately the mid-point between the two sets of teeth. The combined action of the teeth and the pressing surface hold the cable in place. A threaded portion of the device is inserted through a hole in the enclosure, and a metallic nut secures the threaded portion to the enclosure. The metallic teeth within the device conduct electricity from the cable's shield through one of the metallic housings and through the metallic enclosure and to ground. This configuration eliminates the need for a separate ground wire that attaches to the cable's shield and to a ground lug within the enclosure, and simplifies installation by reducing the time and effort required to secure and ground a cable.
