Method of horizontally boring generally aligned openings in a series of spaced walls of a workpiece, which includes: supporting a rotary spindle at one end to controllably permit axial movement of such spindle, the spindle carrying a rotary cutting tool at its opposite end; axially advancing the opposite end of said spindle successively through the series of spaced walls to machine the sides of the axially leading and trailing openings; supplying low pressure fluid to stations (i) spaced circumferentially and axially along the outer surface of said spindle, and (ii) located so that at least some of said stations align transversely with the sides of the lead opening while one of the trailing openings is undergoing machining; and deploying dynamic pressure increasing means (hydrodynamic fluid impeller in the form of a wedge-like trough in the spindle outer surface) at said stations, so that when said some stations are transversely aligned with the sides of the machined lead opening, the fluid is forced to hydrodynamically maintain concentricity between the spindle and machined opening.
