A method and apparatus for signal mediation in a common channel signaling network are described. The method involves identifying candidate message signal units that require mediation and transmitting the candidate signal unit to an associated mediation function which performs access mediation on the contents of the candidate signal unit. The access mediation function may return one or more data packets to the network. The apparatus includes the signal transfer point, the associated mediation function and enhanced functionality in the signal transfer point for screening candidate signal units. The advantage is a more flexible and easily managed signal mediation point that removes the bulk of signal mediation from the signal transfer point so that the signal transfer point can remain dedicated to its signal transfer function.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de médiation de signaux dans un réseau de signalisation par canal sémaphore. Le procédé de cette invention consiste à identifier des trames sémaphores de messages candidates nécessitant une médiation, puis à transmettre chacune de ces trames sémaphores candidates à une fonction médiation associée, qui permet d'accéder aux contenus de ladite trame sémaphore candidate, cette fonction médiation pouvant en outre renvoyer un ou plusieurs paquets de données audit réseau. L'appareil de cette invention comprend un point de transfert sémaphore, une fonction médiation associée, et un point de transfert sémaphore présentant une fonctionnalité améliorée, ce qui permet de trier les trames sémaphores candidates. Cette invention permet donc d'obtenir un point de transfert sémaphore plus flexible et plus facile à gérer, ce qui élimine la médiation globale de signaux du point de transfert sémaphore, de sorte que ce dernier remplit uniquement à sa fonction de transfert sémaphore.
