Downstream digital telephony signals are transmitted over the 1310 nm transmission band of a silica optic fiber (110). Upstream digital telephony signals are transmitted over a "short wavelength" portion of the 1550 nm transmission band of the optic fiber (110), i.e. within a portion of the 1550 nm transmission band having wavelengths less than a predetermined threshold wavelength of 1550 nm. Simultaneously, downstream analog video signals are transmitted over a "long wavelength" portion of the 1550 nm transmission band of the optic fiber (110), i.e. within a portion of the 1550 nm transmission band having wavelengths exceeding the predetermined threshold wavelength of 1550 nm but still within an erbium-doped fiber amplifier gain profile.

On décrit des signaux de téléphonie numérique en aval transmis sur la bande de transmission de 1310 nm d'une fibre optique en silice (110). Des signaux téléphoniques numériques en amont sont transmis sur une partie "longueur d'onde courte" de la bande de transmission de 1550 nm de la fibre optique (110), c'est-à-dire sur une partie de la bande de transmission de 1550 nm ayant des longueurs d'onde inférieures à un seuil de longueur d'onde prédéterminé de 1550 nm. Simultanément, des signaux vidéo analogiques en aval sont transmis sur une partie "grande longueur d'onde" de la bande de transmission de 1550 nm de la fibre optique (110), c'est-à-dire sur une partie de la bande de transmission de 1550 nm ayant des longueurs d'onde supérieures au seuil de longueur d'onde prédéterminé de 1550 nm, mais néanmoins dans un profil de gain d'un amplificateur optique à fibre dopée à l'erbium.
