A method and a continuously operating apparatus for grinding a mineral material into grains of different sizes and sorting the ground material into a plurality of fractions that each consist of grains with a size smaller than a maximum value and greater than a minimum value. The starting material is ground by crushing into a material layer, the ground material is divided into a plurality of fractions, including at least one coarse fraction and at least one fine fraction, and grains with a size greater than a maximum value for the coarse fraction are fed back into the grinding apparatus, optionally along with all or part of the fractions of which the grains have a size between the minimum value for the coarse fraction and the maximum value for the fine fraction.
L'invention a pour objet un procédé et une installation à marche continue pour réduire par broyage une matière minérale en grains de différentes grosseurs et diviser le produit broyé en plusieurs fractions constituées chacune par des grains dont les dimensions sont comprises entre une limite supérieure et une limite inférieure prédéterminées. En partant d'un produit brut, on le soumet à un broyage par écrasement en couche de matière, on divise les produits broyés en plusieurs fractions comportant au moins une fraction grossière et une fraction fine, et on renvoie à l'alimentation du broyeur les grains dont les dimensions sont supérieures à la limite supérieure de la fraction grossière et éventuellement la totalité ou une partie des fractions dont les grains ont des dimesions comprises entre la limite inférieure de la fraction grossière et la limite supérieure de la fraction fine.
