A method and apparatus for decomposing a channel matrix in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A channel matrix H is generated for channels between transmit antennas and receive antennas (202). A He.pi.nitian matrix A=HHH or A=HHn is created (204). A Jacobi process is cyclically performed on the matrix A to obtain Q and DA matrixes such that A=QDAQH (206). DA is a diagonal matrix obtained by singular value decomposition (SVD) on the A matrix. In each Jacobi transformation, real part diagonalization is performed to annihilate real parts of off-diagonal elements of the matrix and imaginary part diagonalization is performed to annihilate imaginary parts of off -diagonal elements of the matrix after the real part diagonalization. U, V and DH matrixes of H matrix are then calculated from the Q and DA matrices. DH is a diagonal matrix comprising singular values of the H matrix (208).

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de décomposition d'une matrice de canaux dans un système de communication sans fil. Une matrice de canaux H est générée pour des canaux entre des antennes d'émission et des antennes de réception. Une matrice hermitienne A=HHH ou A=HHH est créée. Un processus de Jacobi est mis en oeuvre cycliquement sur la matrice A afin d'obtenir des matrices Q et DA de sorte que A=QDAQH. DA est une matrice diagonale obtenue par décomposition en valeurs singulières (DVS) sur la matrice A. Lors de chaque transformation de Jacobi, une diagonalisation de parties réelles est mise en oeuvre afin d'annihiler des parties réelles d'éléments hors diagonale de la matrice et une diagonalisation de parties imaginaires est mise en oeuvre afin d'annihiler des parties imaginaires d'éléments hors diagonale de la matrice après la diagonalisation de parties réelles. Les matrices U, V et DH de la matrice H sont ensuite calculés à partir des matrices Q et DA. DH est une matrice diagonale comprenant des valeurs singulières de la matrice H.
